It not only looks great but you get state-of-the-art technology. The Ørsted ensures that you consistently get the best from every ride.
In 2008, we changed the electric bike market forever with the world’s first true e-bike.  We have been designing e-bikes that ride as beautifully as they look ever since. Our passion to achieve the perfect balance of design and performance has resulted in the creation of the 11 exceptional e-bikes we have in our collection today.  Each bike has its own distinct identity.  Inspired by the world’s great innovators, today’s A2B range is the result of the engineering innovation and design brilliance of our Berlin design centre.  We believe that it’s the minute details that make our e-bikes so special; the attention to detail, drive for perfection, thought and hard work that goes into each and every model.

Ørsted Electric Bike
Named after Hans Christian Ørsted, discoverer of the phenomenon of electromagnetism. Tailored to deliver pedal assist, the design of the Ørsted deliberately has a more ‘bike’ feel. The model’s traditional look belies its impressive, state-of-the-art technology. Rigorously tested, the reliable Ørsted ensures that you consistently get the best out of all your rides.

Designed to withstand pretty much anything you throw at it, the tough, German-designed and built Ørsted will keep going strong, even after years of heavy use. Reassuringly sturdy and easy to manoeuvre, this powerful, unisex model takes design ethos of the Octave, and uses pedal assist rather than throttle.

To ensure the Ørsted’s state-of-the-art technology lives up to our stringent standards, all five of its riding modes have been extensively tested up hills, on the flat and through heavy city traffic. So you can be confident you will get the most out of the model’s new propulsion system and battery power. The Ørsted offers an impressive 50-100 km (30-62 mile) range, with a top speed of 25km/h (15.5 mph)*, extending the possibilities of its rides.

How fast and how far can the Ørsted go?
The Ørsted can reach speed of up to 25km/h (15.5mph), however you are able to pedal faster. The Ørsted will assist you up to 80km (49.5 miles) (the distance varies depending on the weight of the rider and riding conditions).
How does Ørsted handle hills?
The Ørsted delivers up to 40 Nm of torque to propel you from a standing start with ease and will help you navigate the hills between you and your destination. The design of the Ørsted propulsion system enables you to operate the bike at peak output when the terrain requires it. These design features are what gives the Ørsted its sporty performance and sets it apart from other pedal assist electric bikes on the market.
How do I know if I’m running low on power?
The cockpit style display of the Ørsted indicates how much energy is left in your battery as well as how much range you can still achieve on the remaining power based on the assist mode you have chosen. The indicator works like a fuel gauge on your car and will let you know when you are running low and should re-charge.
Can I buy accessories for the Ørsted?
We have a range of accessories to meet your lifestyle needs available at your local A2B dealer. Visit the accessories page to view the range.
How do I set my own pace?
You can choose the level of pedal assistance provided using the control option on the display; you can change the level of assistance provided by the motor enabling you to set your own pace and define your riding experience. There are five assistance levels ranging from ‘economy’ for maximum range to ‘high’ for sporty dynamic performance. A walk assist function also allows the bike to travel at up to 6km/h (3.7mph) while you walk the bike in non-cycle areas.
How do I charge the Ørsted?
The Ørsted uses lithium ion batteries from the highest quality manufacturers. Recharging is as easy as charging a mobile phone or laptop. Simply plug the charger into any standard outlet and connect it to the charge port on your portable rear rack battery. After two hours your battery will be charged up to 80% of its capacity. To complete a full charge will take up to three hours depending on how discharged the battery is at the beginning of the charging process.
